South Essex Film Makers
A Personal View
Most people come into film making from a hobby in photography
My interest started when in 1997 when I discovered the ability of personal computers to store, edit and manipulate video.
As a technical rather than a creative person I consider my own film projects as an exercise in completing a jigsaw. In this jigsaw there are always many more pieces in the box than are needed to make it up, and so the finished picture is never quite right.
Carrying on with this metaphor I am also guilty of fitting pieces that don’t fit into inexact gaps just because I like the look of the piece!!
One development in the club which I strongly support is club projects. Making a club film is about working in a group, so I have really felt engaged when being part of a small creative team, planning films from scratch and contributing to the final production
I have really enjoyed my twelve years in the club. I have learned so much about filming techniques, editing, story boarding etc but even with stabilisation I still don’t seem to be able to stop the odd camera wobble.
